Solar Powered Motion Detectors!

This is pretty cool! Solar powered motion detectors. Under $50, no wiring required, solar power charges battery for minimal energy use and expense. This is a great solution to dark walkways and a little added security for the walk to and from the garage. It looks like Lowes carries one for $88. Does anyone know of a locally owned hardware store that has them?

MAAR Foundation Gives $7,500 today!

Today the Foundation gave two big checks to two great organizations, the City of Lakes Land Trust and the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. I learned today that 25% of the homeless in MN are veterans and 10% are women. Thank you to the Land Trust and MACV for all of your hard work helping people find affordable, sustainable housing!

Here's a great website: www.walkscore.com. Enter your address and it will give you a score 1-100 on how walkable your area is. Mine is 77, BUT they didn't have transit info on my address, so I think it would be more like 99 :)
I just learned some disturbing information about air fresheners. It seems that some of them work by numbing your senses, cancelling out the bad smells. I am going to do a little more research on this, but it doesn't look good.

Friday’s Rates

Friday's rates were extremely good! The economic news was also very good! A little optimism and low rates should make winter market a little sunnier this year. Rates for FHA and Conventional loans well under 5%.

Foreclosures are down 25% from last year. The demand for foreclosure properties is so high, especially in the lower price ranges. Stats show 2 buyers for every 1 foreclosure. Translation? Expect a price increase on the lower end of the market.
